King Abdullah affirmed Jordan’s full support for Egypt: PM Mostafa Madbouli (UPDATE)


Prime Minister Mostafa Madouli said on Tuesday that King Abdullah II sent a letter to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during which he affirmed the continuation of full support for all issues affecting Egyptian national security, foremost of which is the Renaissance Dam.

Madouli and his accompanying delegation arrived on Tuesday to take part in the 29th session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee.

Jordanian Minister of Trade and Industry Maha Ali, head of the Jordanian honorary mission, and the Egyptian ambassador in Amman welcomed Madbouli upon his arrival.

The Egyptian premier was given a red-carpet reception and later headed for a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart Bishr Al Khasawneh for talks ahead of the start of the committee meetings.

The joint Egyptian-Jordanian committee discussed a set of important files on enhancing cooperation in all domains especially trade exchange, housing, electricity, water resources, among others.

The meeting was attended by Jordanian Premier Bishr Khasawneh and Egypt’s Ambassador in Amman Sherif Kamel.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s King Abdullah II praised on Tuesday historic ties with Egypt, voicing his support to all cooperation proposals currently discussed to serve the two countries’ peoples’ interests.

Mabdouli conveyed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s greetings to the Jordanian king and his desire to meet him soon.

The prime minister briefed the king on what had been agreed on during the session’s meetings in the fields of electric linkage, health, transport, and housing, stressing that the large number of the Egyptian ministers who attend the meetings reflected Cairo’s keenness to develop relations with Amman.

Madbouly announced the holding of a forthcoming tripartite summit between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah II urged the Prime minister to convey his greetings to President El-Sisi, wishing to meet him soon.

Also, Minister of State for Legal Affairs Mahmoud Kharabsheh also praised constant cooperation and joint efforts between Egypt and Jordan have been in full swing at all levels for a long time.

In other statements to Jordanian media, the minister noted coordination of stances by the joint higher committee and enhancement of trade and economic relations in all domains.

He welcomed the visit to Jordan by Prime Minister Madbouli and his accompanying delegation during which several agreements would be signed to boost coordination and cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, and services.

Egyptian-Jordanian relations have a positive impact on the various regional issues at all levels, he said, adding that both President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and King Abdullah II have clear stances regarding the Palestinian issue and the need to establish the Palestinian state and implement the two-state solution based on international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative.
