Magnitude 4.6 earthquake strikes southwest of Western Desert near Aswan


A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck southwest of the Western Desert, some 300 kilometres northwest of the town of Abu Simbel in Aswan governorate.

The head of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics Gad el Qady said that the quake, which took place earlier on Friday, had a depth of 12 kilometres.

He added that the institute has reported no casualties or material damage so far.
